U.S. to sell 34 surveillance drones to allies in South China Sea region Posted: 03 Jun 2019 02:40 PM PDT The Trump administration has moved ahead with a surveillance drone sale to four U.S. allies in the South China Sea region as acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan said Washington will no longer "tiptoe" around Chinese behavior in Asia. Shanahan did not directly name China when making accusations of "actors" destabilizing the region in a speech at the annual Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore on Saturday but went on to say the United States would not ignore Chinese behavior. The Pentagon announced on Friday it would sell 34 ScanEagle drones, made by Boeing Co. to the governments of Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam for a total of $47 million. |
Trump insults London mayor Sadiq Khan moments before UK state visit Posted: 02 Jun 2019 11:00 PM PDT Donald Trump has insulted London mayor Sadiq Khan moments before setting off for Britain. Asked on Sunday evening if he would be willing to meet Mr Khan during his state visit, Mr Trump said: "No, I don't think much of him. I think that he's a - he's the twin of (New York City mayor Bill) de Blasio, except shorter."It came after Mr Khan described the US president over the weekend as "just one of the most egregious examples of a growing global threat" and compared the language he had used to that of the "fascists of the 20th century".Responding to reporters over the din of his Marine One helicopter as he left the White House, Mr Trump said he expected his three-day state visit to be "very important" and "very interesting". "As you know, they want to do trade with the United States, and I think there's an opportunity for a very big trade deal at some point in the near future. And we'll see how that works out," Mr Trump said. He also praised Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage and denied making "bad" comments about the Duchess of Sussex."Well, I think I may meet with him. He's been a friend of mine. He's been very nice. I have a very good relationship with him," the president said of Mr Johnson. He went on: "I have a very good relationship with Nigel Farage, with many people over there (in the UK) and we'll see what happens. I may meet with him. They want to meet. We'll see what happens."Accompanied by first lady Melania Trump, the president will arrive aboard Air Force One on Monday morning having already created a considerable degree of political turbulence with comments on the Tory leadership race, Brexit and the Duchess of Sussex.Ahead of the visit, he called on Britain to leave the European Union without a deal if Brussels refuses to meet its demands and urged the Government to send Mr Farage into the negotiations. The controversy was further exacerbated on Sunday when the US ambassador to the UK, Woody Johnson, suggested the NHS would be on the table in post-Brexit trade talks. After landing at Stansted Airport, the Trumps will head to Buckingham Palace for a reception with the Queen, Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. The Duke of Sussex will also attend a private lunch at the palace - although his wife, who is on maternity leave, will be at home with their four-week-old son, Archie.Mr Trump has already denied calling the Duchess of Sussex "nasty" when he was recently confronted with comments she made before the 2016 US elections saying she would leave the country if he won.Asked at the White House on Sunday evening if he was willing to apologise to the Royal Family, or to clarify the comments made to The Sun, Mr Trump replied: "No, I made no bad comment. Thank you."Mr Trump's arrival in the capital is due to be followed by a protest through central London against the visit on Tuesday, with the "Trump baby" blimp made for his visit last year due to put in an appearance.Additional reporting by PA |

How to install iOS 13 beta 1 on your iPhone or iPad right now Posted: 03 Jun 2019 12:23 PM PDT After unveiling the most important iOS 13 features on stage at WWDC 2019, many of which were leaked in the weeks preceding the event, Apple released the first iOS 13 beta to developers, who can install the early version of the operating system on compatible iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices. As with previous betas, the first release is meant for developers to use first, as it might be less stable than the public beta that Apple will roll out to all users in July. However, considering what we saw in previous years, we'd expect iOS 13 beta 1 to deliver a decent experience for a first beta release. Also, like with every developer beta before, you'll be able to install it without actual access to a developer account. The plan is pretty simple, and if you've ever installed iOS developer beta versions, then you already know what to do. First of all, you'll have to search for an iOS 13 beta profile online and install it on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. We won't link to any, but there are plenty of sources online, just make sure the site you're getting it from looks trustworthy enough.Once that's done, the beta will be available for download directly on your device, and you'll be running iOS 13 beta 1 in no time. You don't need a computer for any of this.As customary, it might be a good idea to back up your iOS device before installing the beta. That way, if anything goes wrong, you'll be able to downgrade to the previous, safe iOS 12 version you had running, without losing too much data. You could also install iOS 13 beta 1 on a secondary device, whether it's an iPad or iPhone, without risking anything.Since I just mentioned older iPhones, you should know that iOS 13 will be compatible with most devices out there, although some of them might not make the cut, including the older iPhone 5s, iPhone 6. On the iPad side, you'll need an iPad mini 4 or later to run iPadOS beta. If you have a relatively new iPhone or iPad that can run iOS 12, then you'll be able to install iOS 13 beta 1 on them as well. Here's the compatibility list for iOS 12 right now:The safest route is, of course, to wait for the public beta that usually arrives in up to a month after the first iOS beta release. But if you do that, you can't try out Dark Mode, the new volume indicator, and everything else that Apple packed into this iPhone release. |

China Says It Doesn’t Want to Replace U.S. as ‘Boss of World’ Posted: 01 Jun 2019 08:07 PM PDT China doesn't seek to surpass the U.S. as the globe's dominant power but is prepared to "fight to the end" if needed, Defense Minister Wei Fenghe said, as trade friction grows between the world's biggest economies. "China has no intention, no power, to be the boss of this world, and against the United States to fight for this status," Wei said on Sunday at the Shangri-La Dialogue, a major regional security conference. Wei added at the event in Singapore that China still wants to resolve escalating tensions through dialogue, but it won't be bullied. |

Four rescued, eight still missing on avalanche-hit Indian peak Posted: 02 Jun 2019 04:17 AM PDT Four British climbers have been rescued from an avalanche-hit Himalayan mountain range, Indian authorities said Sunday, as a frantic search continued for eight other mountaineers still missing on its treacherous heights. Helicopters airlifted the rescued group to safety after they were spotted early Sunday at a base camp near India's second highest mountain, the 7,826-metre (25,643-foot) Nanda Devi. Authorities said the four rescued were not part of the larger group but were in touch with them until May 26, a day before the avalanche struck the mountain. |

Massive Google Outage Turned Smart Homes Into Zombies Posted: 03 Jun 2019 11:56 AM PDT Your smart home is only as smart as the network that runs it.On Sunday, some Google users found themselves locked out of YouTube and Gmail as the tech giant experienced major outages across the U.S. But while the service disruption only affected most users' browsing history, others saw their homes malfunction. Nest, a Google-owned smart home company, was also affected by the outage. For Nest users, that meant losing access to smart thermostats, smart baby monitors, and smart front doors. They might seem like a plot device in a heavy-handed sci-fi movie, but smart home glitches are an inevitability as more people invite digital helpers into their homes."Can't use my Nest lock to let guests into my house," a commenter on the tech forum Hacker News wrote on Sunday. "I'm pretty sure their infrastructure is hosted in Google Cloud."The commenter, StanfordKid, had been trying to use Nest to unlock his door for guests while he was away. In theory, the software is safer than leaving the keys under a doormat. Unless Google is down—then the smart home device loses its brain.StanfordKid wasn't the only Nest user locked out of his devices on Sunday. Nest also makes smart smoke detectors, smart camera systems, and smart thermostats, some of which were reported useless during the four-hour outage. (Nest did not immediately respond to a request for comment.)For gaming YouTuber jDantastic, that meant a thermostat that wouldn't work wirelessly because the Nest app was down, he tweeted. (He acknowledged that the inconvenience was relatively minor, as the thermostat had a manual override.) Another Twitter user said he lost access to his baby monitors."It's very inconvenient when the system is down," TheBigWax tweeted at Nest. "Especially if you use Nest Cameras for baby monitors. Is the outage expected to end soon? Sometimes I wish I just got simple baby monitors instead of paying a premium price and a monthly fee for an inconsistent service."But "simple" devices of old are often on their way out, replaced by their always-online counterparts. These web-enabled products form what's known as the "Internet of Things," a network of gadgets connected to the internet, sometimes for almost no discernible purpose. Dubious usefulness aside, these smart products are making moves on their analogue counterparts, sometimes with major Silicon Valley backing.Take the Juicero. A $400 juice machine that raised more than $118 million in funding (including funding from Google Ventures), Juicero promised an unparalleled fruit juice experience by syncing to the internet to perform minor tasks like confirming that its proprietary juice packets hadn't been recalled. The juicer didn't work unless it was connected to the internet, although savvy users soon found a workaround: they could make juice by squeezing Juicero packets with their hands. The company went out of business soon after Bloomberg revealed the manual hack.Undeterred, other companies have tried selling internet-dependent beverage accessories. Ember, a temperature-controlled coffee mug ($99.95-$149.95), needs regular software updates and a smartphone connection. And unlike a $5 coffee mug, glitches sometimes render these homegoods unusable. When Europe adopted new privacy laws, some web-enabled light bulbs announced that, due to their new privacy policy, they would no longer turn on, according to the popular Twitter account "Internet of Shit."Sometimes clunky tech even becomes a human rights issue. In May, elderly residents in a Manhattan apartment building won a settlement in a lawsuit against landlords who installed smartphone-enabled smart locks in the building. Some residents, including a 93-year-old, said they almost never left home after the locks were installed, because they did not own smartphones. Others objected to an 84-page smart lock contract that surrendered all the residents' smart lock data to the landlords."It's a form of harassment," resident Beth McKenzie told the New York Post. "What happens if your phone dies? I don't want to be stuck on the street and I don't want to be surveilled."In extreme cases, the Internet of Things can cause internet outages of its own. The devices, which often have shoddy security, are prime hacking targets. On multiple occasions, hackers have wrangled huge networks of home devices and turned them into botnets capable of breaking the internet. In October 2016, a huge distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack knocked out large sections of the internet on the East Coast. Originally thought to be the work of hostile state hackers, the culprits turned out to be a group of teens. The attackers had used closed circuit television cameras, not too different from Nest's home cameras, to spam the internet to its breaking point.Read more at The Daily Beast.Get our top stories in your inbox every day. US ban has 'no effect' on Huawei's aviation business: official Posted: 02 Jun 2019 10:52 PM PDT US moves against Chinese tech titan Huawei have had "no effect" on the firm's aviation business despite several countries taking steps to block its mobile services, a top company executive said Monday. Huawei has been caught in an intensifying trade war between the United States and China, with President Donald Trump moving to blacklist the Chinese manufacturer over national security concerns. |
U.S. regulators say some Boeing 737 MAX planes may have faulty parts Posted: 02 Jun 2019 12:20 PM PDT The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration on Sunday disclosed a new problem involving Boeing Co's grounded 737 MAX, saying that more than 300 of that troubled plane and the prior generation 737 may contain improperly manufactured parts and that the agency will require these parts to be quickly replaced. The FAA said up to 148 of the part known as a leading-edge slat track that were manufactured by a Boeing supplier are affected, covering 179 MAX and 133 NG aircraft worldwide. The 737 MAX, Chicago-based Boeing's best-selling jet, was grounded globally in March following a fatal Ethiopian Airlines crash after a similar Lion Air disaster in Indonesia in October. |

Labour facing hypocrisy claims as MPs lead protest against Donald Trump Posted: 02 Jun 2019 09:40 AM PDT Labour is facing accusations of hypocrisy as MPs lead the anti-Trump protests while the party became embroiled in another sexual harassment scandal. Labour frontbenchers are set to play key roles in a "carnival of resistance" organised to mark the US President's meeting with Theresa May on Tuesday and have described him as a "racist" and a "misogynist". However the party faced calls to get its own house in order first as it emerged that Jeremy Corbyn's chief of staff had intervened to block the suspension of David Prescott when he was accused of sexual harassment. The US President will arrive in London on Monday for a three day state visit beginning with a ceremonial welcome in the gardens of Buckingham Palace and ending with him attending D-Day celebrations in Portsmouth alongside the Queen and Prince Charles on Wednesday. The security operation around his visit, which is likely to see more than 10,000 officers deployed, could cost an estimated £25m as tens of thousands of protestors descend on central London. Clive Lewis, Labour's treasury spokesman, has said that he hopes to be given the "honour" of holding onto the ropes of the "Trump baby" while Diane Abbott, the shadow home secretary, has been announced as one of the key speakers at the protest. Donald Trump met the Queen during a working visit last year Credit: PA A number of other Labour frontbenchers, including Emily Thornberry, the shadow foreign secretary, and Dawn Butler, shadow women and equalities secretary, have released videos encouraging others to join them at the protest. Ms Thornberry said that the President was "destroying" the common values between Britain and the US and described him as a "racist and a sexual predator". Her comments echoed those of the Labour leader who is boycotting the state banquet held in the President's honour and has accused Mr Trump of using "racist and misogynist rhetoric". But the comments led to accusations of hypocrisy as it emerged that Mr Corbyn's office had intervened in the suspension of Mr Prescott, the 49-year-old son of former deputy prime minister John Prescott. It came after a female MP complained of Mr Prescott's "unwarranted sexual advances" and told Mr Corbyn that his trusted aide was "forceful, rude and aggressive" to two students who "refused" to have sex with him. Emails leaked to the Sunday Times show that Labour's executive director and its head of governance and legal appeared to favour what was described as the "safest option" to suspend Mr Prescott as he could pose a risk to young women. Emily Thornberry attacked the President ahead of his visit Credit: Heathcliff O'Malley But Karie Murphy, Mr Corbyn's chief of staff, responded saying the party did not "have grounds to suspend". Mr Prescott, who has always denied the allegations, remained a member and never faced a wider investigation. A Labour spokesman said that it "takes all complaints of sexual harassment extremely seriously" adding that in this case no formal complaint was received. The party is also embroiled in a long-running scandal surrounding its failure to deal with anti-Semitism. Peter Bone, the Conservative MP for Wellingborough, said that Labour should be "looking internally" before insulting Mr Trump, adding: "Maybe this is a diversion tactic to take attention away from their failures". He said: "These protests show that the Labour party are not fit to be in Government, where they would have to deal with our closest ally. President Trump is a duly elected President and they have shown themselves to be immature. This is student politics." Presidential motorcade Presidential motorcade He added that it was offensive that the Labour leadership has held hold meeting with controversial foreign leaders but are protesting against the US president, adding: "It is hypocrisy at the highest level". Meetings between Mrs May and Mr Trump on Tuesday could also prove rocky as the President is expected to warn that the UK's security relationship with the US will be compromised if it proceeds with Huawei contract. The US ambassador Woody Johnson said that the Chinese telecoms company being allowed to bid for 5G contracts is a "big risk" and the effect on US-UK intelligence sharing is "to be determined". Mr Trump is also said to be prepared to challenge his counterpart over Britain's role in the investigation into his election campaign's ties to Russia. The US president has ordered his attorney general to scrutinise whether the UK intelligence services passed on information to the Americans that helped kick-start the inquiry. Before Air Force one had even touched down the US President had courted controversy in a series of interviews in which he was said to have described Meghan Markle as "nasty". Mr Trump later tweeted to deny the claims saying that they had been "Made up by the Fake News Media". He will not meet the Duchess of Sussex, who will be at home with her four-week old son Archie. |
watchOS 6 brings even more apps and features to Apple Watch Posted: 03 Jun 2019 10:19 AM PDT We're just a few minutes in to Apple's WWDC 2019 keynote, and we've already been introduced to the latest version of tvOS. Up next, the Cupertino company gave us our first look at watchOS 6. Apple started off by showcasing some of its latest watch faces, including a gradient face, a new digital face, and a solar face. It is also now possible to have your Apple Watch play audio chimes, like bird noises, at every hour on the hour. But then we got the big news: the App Store is coming to watchOS. You can now install apps directly on your Apple Watch which will run independently - without the need for a companion app on your iPhone. Some of the new apps include Audio Books, Voice Memos, and a calculator. Wrapping up the apps section, Apple announced a streaming audio API and an extended runtime API (but Spotify was nowhere to be seen).Moving on to health, Apple revealed a new feature called Trends which will show you your activity over time instead of the classic monthly view that you're used to seeing. It will show you how long you stand per day, how much exercise you're getting per day on average, and gives you suggestions on how to improve those averages.Apple also debuted a feature called hearing health during the keynote, which is basically a dB meter that tells you if you are being exposed to noise that could damage your hearing. Apple says that none of the audio is ever recorded or saved -- this is just another way to keep users alert in regards to their surroundings.Cycle Tracking is another new feature of watchOS 6, giving women the ability to monitor their health and be notified about potential upcoming fertile windows. This is also coming to the Health app on iOS, so even if you don't have an Apple Watch, you can still take advantage of it in the coming months. These are just some of the most noteworthy additions in watchOS 6, but you can see a bunch of the dozens of other features and upgrades in the list above, such as spoken navigation in Maps, For You in Apple Music, and the option to reorder the faces on your watch. As you can tell, this is a big update for watchOS.A developer preview of watchOS 6 is coming to the Apple Developer Program at developer.apple.com starting today. The free software update will then be available to all Apple Watch Series 1 and later devices this fall. |
Student bus targeted amid deadly wave of Kabul bombings Posted: 02 Jun 2019 07:52 AM PDT Two people were killed and dozens more wounded in Kabul on Sunday as a wave of bombings hit civilian targets -- including a university school bus -- across the Afghan capital. The yellow bus had been heading to Kabul Education University in the western part of the city Sunday morning when it was hit by a sticky bomb -- a growing menace in Kabul, where insurgents and criminals use magnets to slap explosives on vehicles. The device had been placed under the bus, interior ministry spokesman Nasrat Rahimi said. |

Virginia Republicans blocked law to ban sales of gun parts used in mass shooting Posted: 02 Jun 2019 03:02 AM PDT A Virginia bill designed to ban sales of large capacity gun magazines similar to those used by the Virginia Beach shooting suspect died in committee in January on a party-line vote. The fate of the legislation, SB1748, was so widely expected that the outcome drew virtually no public attention. For more than 20 years, Republicans and a few rural Democrats in the General Assembly have killed almost every measure aimed at restricting gun ownership. The Republicans blocked a major push for gun control after the 2007 Virginia Tech shootings, where 33 people died. They chose instead to respond to that shooting by joining Democrats to enact mental-health reforms.Although there are signs that public opinion has been shifting in favour of gun control in Virginia, the state has a history of support for gun rights symbolised by the location in Fairfax of the headquarters of the National Rifle Association (NRA).Each year, Democrats propose multiple gun-control measures, such as strengthening background checks, limiting handgun purchases to one per month and allowing localities to regulate guns in public buildings. They call these "common-sense" measures to save lives. Each year, Republican majorities in one or both chambers of the legislature vote them down, usually in committee. GOP legislators say their goal is never to infringe on people's Second Amendment rights."There's been no tragedy that has got the [Republican] majority to think twice and consider reasonable efforts," said Adam Ebbin, a Democrat from Alexandria, who sponsored SB1748 and is co-chair of the Gun Violence Prevention Caucus.A big reason, he said, is the political influence of gun rights organisations."Part of the problem is that the [Virginia] Citizens Defence League and the NRA have a stranglehold on the votes of the Republicans," Mr Ebbin said.League President Philip Van Cleave, whose organisation prides itself on taking stronger positions than the NRA, defended his group's record."Gun control does not save lives. It endangers innocent life by making it harder for good people to defend themselves," Mr Van Cleave said in an email. "The Republican leadership understands that basic truth."Mr Van Cleave said his group opposes all magazine restrictions, such as the 10-round limit proposed by Mr Ebbin's bill. "DC has those 10-round restrictions and eight times the murder rate of northern Virginia, which has no limits on magazine size," he said. The NRA did not respond to requests for comment. It typically maintains a low profile in the days immediately after a highly publicised shooting incident. After the Virginia Tech slayings, then the worst mass shooting by an individual in US history, gun-control advocates led by then-governor Tim Kaine, a Democrat and now a US senator, pushed hard to change some laws. The centrepiece of his package was a proposal to require gun sellers to conduct background checks on all buyers at gun shows.Instead, with Republican support, the legislature lowered the standard under which a mentally ill person can be forced into treatment, and expanded the criteria under which a mentally ill person can be barred from buying or owning guns.It also boosted funding by $42 million (£33 million) for community-based mental health treatment. The response disappointed gun-control advocates, including relatives and friends of Virginia Tech victims, who said people diagnosed with mental illness are less likely than others to commit violence with a firearm."The gun lobby likes to blame the gun violence problem on persons with mental illness, and nothing could be further from the truth," Lori Haas, state director for the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, whose daughter was shot and injured at Virginia Tech, said. "While resources are necessary to increase services, and warranted for those state agencies and private organisations providing services, doing so is not going to stop the gun violence problem in Virginia," Ms Haas said.Virginia Senate Majority Leader Thomas Norment Jr, a Republican from James City, said it was too soon after the Virginia Beach shootings to talk politics."It is offensive, disrespectful, and tasteless that anyone – including Senator Ebbin and Ms Haas – would use a tragedy like this to promote a political agenda less than 24 hours after families and an entire community have suffered a loss of this magnitude," Mr Norment said in an email.Virginia Beach police said their officers shot and killed the suspected shooter after a lengthy gun battle in which he used two .45-caliber semiautomatic handgun that were purchased legally.Along with the weapons at the scene, investigators found a sound suppressor and extended magazines, which contain more than the standard number of rounds. Police have not identified a motive for the shooting.Mr Ebbin's bill would have prohibited any person from importing, selling, bartering or transferring a firearms magazine designed to hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition.Eight Republicans voted it down, with six Democrats in favour, in the Senate Courts of Justice Committee on 28 January.Police have not said how many rounds were contained by the Virginia Beach shooter's extended magazines.Internet advertisements for extended magazines for .45 semiautomatic handguns list standard magazines as holding seven to 15 rounds, and extended ones as holding 15 to 33 rounds.Another bill that died in the Virginia House in January would have allowed localities such as Virginia Beach to ban firearms from government buildings such as the one where the Friday shootings took place.Virginia Beach Council member Guy King Tower said after the shootings that it was regrettable that the city needed state approval to take such actions.Democratic governors have used executive powers at times to strengthen gun restrictions. In 2015, then-governor Terry McAuliffe, ordered a ban on guns in state office buildings. The biggest change in gun laws in Virginia in recent years has been one that relaxed controls. In 2012, then-governor Bob McDonnell signed a bill repealing the state's one-per-month limit on handgun purchases.Democrats have repeatedly sought to restore the limit, but without success.New York and other states have complained that the change has contributed to Virginia's status as a major centre of gun trafficking on the East Coast.Gun control advocates believe public sentiment is moving their way. They said they hit a major milestone in the 2017 elections by turning out as many of their supporters as their opponents did. Democrats won all of the state's top three elective offices that year, for governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general. Some of those Democrats continued their efforts on Saturday.Governor Ralph Northam, in an interview with NPR, said he would continue to push lawmakers to pass gun safety legislation.Mr Northam noted that the Republican-controlled General Assembly killed gun-related bills he had proposed earlier this year as well as the year before.Earlier in the day, Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring told MSNBC that it was time to enact red flag legislation, background checks and other gun regulations. So far, it has not translated into success in the legislature. Both parties are expected to use gun control as an issue to mobilise their bases in the November elections, when all seats in the General Assembly will be up for grabs. At present, the GOP holds two-seat majorities in both the House and Senate. Based on experience, Democrats would have to win control of both chambers to change the status quo.The Washington Post |

How Soybeans Became China’s Most Powerful Weapon in Trump’s Trade War Posted: 02 Jun 2019 04:01 AM PDT Soybeans may not seem all that useful in a war. Nonetheless, they've become China's most important weapon in its ever-worsening trade conflict with the U.S.China, the world's biggest buyer of the crop, has reportedly stopped purchasing any American soybeans in retaliation for the Trump administration raising tariffs on US$250 billion of Chinese goods. This is very bad news for U.S. farmers. While China's targeting of soybeans may have come as something of a surprise to most Americans, to a professor of agricultural economics who studies international commodity markets for a living, this was not at all unexpected.Even before the conclusion of the 2016 presidential race, trade analysts were already weighing the possibility that China might impose an embargo on U.S. soybean imports based on protectionist rhetoric from both candidates. As a result, with the trade war in full swing, American soybean farmers are now among its biggest losers. Here are a few figures that show why.Soybeans, by the numbersSoybeans are a crucial part of the global food chain, particularly as a source of protein in the production of hogs and poultry. |

Trump steps up attacks on Mexico, tariff threat called 'deadly serious' Posted: 02 Jun 2019 07:56 AM PDT Donald Trump stepped up his attacks on Mexico over immigration Sunday as a top aide warned that the US president is "deadly serious" about slapping tariffs on imports from the southern neighbor. "People have been saying for years that we should talk to Mexico. The problem is that Mexico is an 'abuser' of the United States, taking but never giving," Trump said in a series of tweets Sunday. |
